IOWA CITY - The Iowa women's basketball team will head back to Cancun in 2013.
The Hawkeyes and tournament officials of the 2013 Cancun?Challenge announced today that Iowa is one of eight teams which will play three games at the Aventura Palace Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico, Nov. 28-30.
The Hawkeyes will take on USC, Boston College and UNC-Wilmington in the Cancun Challenge Mayan Tournament. The Cancun Challenge Riviera Tournament will feature Arizona State, Arkansas State, Illinois and North Carolina. Every team will play one game each day in a true classic format.
Iowa, which is trying for its seventh straight NCAA Tournament appearance this upcoming season, is 3-1 all-time against USC, 0-1 against Boston College and has never faced off against UNC-Wilmington.
The Hawkeyes last traveled to Cancun in 2010, defeating both James Madison and Virginia Tech. Iowa will play USC on Nov. 28, Boston College on Nov. 29 and UNC-Wilmington on Nov. 30.
