Tyler and Kara Slagle, of Marshalltown, are the parents of a daughter, Avery Michele, born at 11:06 p.m. July 8 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines weighing 6 pounds 12 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. Grandparents are Jeff and Ronee Slagle, of Tama; Milo and Kelle Boles, of Toledo; Marshall and Carol Sealine, of Marshalltown; and Mike and Pam Mattox, of Yukon, Okla. Great-grandmother is Clare Mattox, of Marshalltown.

Yolonda Rowley and Brandon Cambridge, of Marshalltown, are the parents of a son, Hendrix Kingston Cambridge, born at 7:57 a.m. July 29 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Welcoming Hendrix home is big brother Sean Woodard and big sister Zoey Woodard. Grandparents are: Dan and Darla Rowley, Jeff and Jamell Goodman, Brian Mattingly, Maurice and Shawn Jones, Linda Prugel and Doris Dobbs.

Brad and Jessica Ginapp, of Chesapeake, Va., are the parents of a daughter, Autumn Grace, born at 5:40 p.m. July 30 at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Va., weighing 8 pounds 1 ounce and measuring 21 inches long. Autumn joins sister Aubrey at home. Grandparents are Ron and Nancy Ginapp, of Marshalltown, and Jose and Tabby (Maxwell) Prieto, of Charlotte, N.C. Great-grandmothers are Shirley Johnston and Inez Ginapp, of Belmond.

Nathan Cox, 402 N. First Ave., made an initial appearance on three counts of a child endangerment without injury charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Aug. 21. The previously posted bond will continue until the conclusion of this case.

Lance Mandell Walker, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. He was found guilty by the court and fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning Sept. 1 until the debt is paid.

Charlie Lee Martinez, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a criminal mischief-fifth degree charge. He was found guilty by the court and fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75 plus restitution if applicable. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning Sept. 1 until the debt is paid.

Jose Francisco Ordaz Sr., 112 E. Webster St., made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a guilty plea hearing. The plea hearing is rescheduled for 2:30 p.m. Aug. 30. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety with credit for time in custody.

Camarin Duncan, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75. The court granted her a deferred judgment with unsupervised probation for one year. The rules of the probation include: pay $65 civil penalty, $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs on a $50 per month pay schedule beginning Sept. 1 and obey all laws. At the end of the year, Duncan can send a letter applying for her record to be expunged of this offense.

Michael Grommet, 1101 S. Third Ave., made an initial appearance on a theft-first degree charge. He will hire Chad Frese to represent him in this case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Aug. 12. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

Accidents

On Thursday, a minivan driven by Jeremy Allen Williams, 2552 Smith Ave., Lot #79, was northbound on South Third Avenue approaching the intersection with West Nevada Street when it collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by Kathleen Mary Tocheri, 406 W. Nevada St., which was stopped in the intersection awaiting to turn left. A passenger, Payton Anthony Williams, 2552 Smith Ave. Lot #79, was possibly injured, but not transported. Williams was cited for no insurance and failure to stop within an assured, clear distance. Damage to the Williams minivan was estimated at $3,500 while the Tocheri vehicle received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

On Monday, a vehicle driven by Andrea Jane George, of Gilman, was westbound on East Church Street stopped for a red light at the Third Avenue intersection with wheels in the crosswalk when a bicycle navigated by Travis Nehring, 1006 Finkle Ave., rode through the crosswalk and collided with the George vehicle. Nehring was injured, but not transported.
