The Civil War was raging when Marshalltown's First Baptist Church was formed. And over its distinguished history, the church has celebrated many a milestone.

Most recently, the church hosted events in honor of its 125th and 130th anniversaries, according to parishioner Jane Giannetto.

Those are but two of the reasons the church wanted to do something extra special for its 150th anniversary.

Nothing short of a spiritual exclamation point has been placed on a power-packed and faith-based festival set for Saturday at the church. And Giannetto emphasized it is free-of-charge and open to the community.

From a carnival to food to comedy, Giannetto said the event committee has worked to make it one to remember.

"Remembering, Rejoicing and Rededicating" is the theme.
