Positive first impressions at Historical Society

August 23, 2013
Shown is the remodeled main entrance to the Historical Society of Marshall County’s Museum at 202 E. Church St. Five layers of wallpaper were removed, new lighting fixtures installed and staircase improvements were made earlier this year, according to society volunteer Susan Williams of Marshalltown. Accent Drywall and Pro Finish did much of the work. Assisting were volunteers Scott Mason and Dan Mills. Other significant improvements were made throughout the building over 2.5 months to enhance the organization’s efforts to educate residents about the county’s history. It was the first major remodeling undertaken at the museum in five years, according to Mason. The building was initially constructed in 1870 for the Glick family. Museum hours are 10-4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
