Woman arrested for domestic assault

A Marshalltown woman was arrested after she allegedly choked a man with whom she lives.

Julie Ann Jimenez, 32, was arrested last Wednesday after she allegedly hit the man in his head before choking him. The man did not require hospitalization. A minor child was present during the alleged scuffle.

Jimenez was charged with domestic assault - strangulation, a serious misdemeanor, and child endangerment without injury, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Monday

Diego Villa-Magana, 7 S. Seventh Ave., made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge, a no insurance charge and a loud noise from a vehicle charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 13. Villa-Magana was released on his own recognizance.

Amanda Johnson, of Garwin, made an initial appearance on a driving while barred-habitual officer charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 13. Johnson was released on her own recognizance.

Cara Sue Jackson, 510 Bromley St., made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 13. Jackson was released on her own recognizance.

Jason Hamilton Hausey AKA Jason Hamilton, 402 Washington St., made an initial appearance on a possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana charge and a public intoxication charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 13. Hamilton was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered that he be photographed and fingerprinted by 4 p.m. on Monday. The court further ordered that Hamilton obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date.

Matthew Kent Borton, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving while barred-habitual offender charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 13. Borton was released on his own recognizance.

James Coughenour, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 10 a.m. on Sept. 6. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

Heather Bell, 510 N. 15th Ave., made an initial appearance on a carrying weapons-brass knuckles charge. The public defender's office was appointed to represent her in this case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 5. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Incidents

On Saturday, Jose Angel-Medina, 508 E. Boone St. Apt. #4, reported damage to the dash of a 1998 Ford Expedition while parked at his residence and the theft of a JBL car stereo. Estimated value of loss was $340.

On Thursday, an employee with Git 'N Go, 902 W. Lincolnway, reported the theft of two bank deposits totaling $709.12.

On Wednesday, Florita Ann Garcia, 5 S. Seventh St. Apt. #202, reported damage to the driver side of a 1999 Audi AA6 and damage to a wooden fence at 112 W. Lincoln St. during a domestic incident. Estimated value of damage was $2,700.

Accidents

On Aug. 20, a vehicle driven by Juan Carlos Castellano-Muratella, 604 W. Boone St., was parked in a private driveway at 112 W. Lincoln St., when it suddenly accelerated forward in an attempt to assault an individual outside of the vehicles. It made contact all along the driver's side of an Audi AA6 before veering off into a wooden fence line owned by Yomir Acosta, 110 W. Lincoln St., then accelerated away from the scene in a reckless manner. Castellano-Muratella was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with injuries. Castellano-Muratella was cited for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended, leaving the scene of an accident-vehicle damage only and reckless driving. Damage to the Castellano-Muratella vehicle was estimated at $1,500 while the Audi received an estimated $2,500 in damage and the Acosta fence an estimated $200 in damage.

Thursday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a call to 1301 Summit St., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 409 E. Boone St., 101 NewCastle Road, 2010 Stratford Lane, 206 Nicholas Drive, 913 Prairie Lane, and 125 S. 11th St.

Friday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three fire calls to: 211 W. Church St., 609 E. Church St., and 211 W. Church St., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 112 W. Main St., 105 W. Boone St., 407 W. Church St., and 514 N. 13th Ave.

Saturday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a fire call to 522 N. First St., and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 9 1/2 E. Webster St., and 714 Noble St.

Sunday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a medical assist with the EMS crew to 2907 S. Sixth St., and four fire calls to: 212 Pleasantview Road, 506 N. Center St., 110 College Drive, and 1406 W. Linn St.
