Charles "Chuck" Leroy Kilstrom was born on May 8, 1938, in Ames, Iowa, the son of Roy and Mavis (Berg) Kilstrom. He was raised and educated in the Ames School District, graduating from Ames High School in 1957. "Chuck" married his high school sweet heart, Dorothy VanDerWilt, on July 3, 1958, in Ames, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with three sons: Scott, Todd, and Derek. Chuck was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, Elmwood Country Club, a big supporter of the Jaycees, and one of the founders of MFL (Marshalltown Football League). Being passionate about serving the Marshalltown community with the best products and services, he established Electric Supply of Marshalltown in 1977. Chuck had a true passion for wildlife and nature and sports of any kind. He was always happiest behind the wheel of a classic car with his wife at his side. Anyone who knew Chuck and Dorothy knew that nothing from weather to scheduling could keep them away from one of their kids or grandkids events. They were their number one cheerleaders.

Left to cherish his life is his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy; his children: Scott (Kari) Kilstrom, Todd Kilstrom and Derek (Dawn) Kilstrom; Grandchildren: Trevor, Brooke, Taylor, Alec and Evan Kilstrom; his sister: Elaine (Greg) Casey and one brother: Ralph Kilstrom.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bruce, and one sister, Norma.

Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Chuck and his family.
