Marshalltown Community College sophomore libero Ashley Salgado has been honored by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference for the second straight week.
Salgado, an Ottumwa native, was named ICCAC Volleyball Player of the Week on Tuesday. She was the ICCAC Defensive Player of the Week last week.
Salgado had 201 digs in four matches in the Central Nebraska Invitational this past weekend. Her 78 digs in a five-set loss to McCook Community College were a career-high. Her previous best was 77 during a home match with the Grand View junior varsity on Aug. 29.
The sophomore captain currently leads all NJCAA divisions with 471 digs and 13.46 digs per set.
Salgado suffered an ankle injury Friday but returned to the court Saturday and still contributed 122 digs over the final two matches of the tournament.
Salgado and the Tigers return to action tonight when they travel to Iowa Lakes for an ICCAC match at 7 p.m. in Estherville.
