AMES - Tickets are on sale for country music artist Kacey Musgraves, appearing Oct. 23 at Iowa State University. Doors will open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. concert in Stephens Auditorium.
The Nashville-based singer/songwriter recently completed recording of her debut album and released her first single "Merry Go Round" to radio. The single was greeted with massive critical acclaim (Billboard, Rolling Stone, New York Post) and is notable on the country music charts, peaking as high as #14.
A Texas native, Musgraves began singing publicly at 8-years-old and wrote her first song at 9-years-old. To date, that talent has produced cuts for multi-platinum artists such as Martina McBride and Miranda Lambert. Lambert's current album includes Musgraves's co-written track "Mama's Broken Heart" which Rolling Stone magazine ranked #26 in their "50 Best Singles of 2011" list.
Musical influences range from Loretta Lynn and John Prine to bands like Cake and The Beach Boys. Musgraves has opened for, and toured with, artists including Willie Nelson, Lady Antebellum and Alison Krauss. She was also recently featured as a special guest on Little Big Town's The Tornado Tour and as an opener on Kenny Chesney's No Shoes Nation tour earlier this year.
Tickets will be $25 and will be available through all Ticketmaster outlets. ISU Students will be able to purchase $20 discounted tickets at the Stephens Auditorium Ticket Office only. Discounted student tickets will not be available via Ticketmaster. An ISU student ID must be presented at time of purchase with a limit of two tickets per ID. All tickets will be reserved seating.
The concert is sponsored by the Iowa State University Student Union Board, a student-run programming board that organizes cultural, recreational, educational, social, and entertainment activities and events throughout the academic year.
