‘Appy hour’ offered at the library

September 13, 2013

The Marshalltown Public Library will offer an "Appy Hour" program, where youth and families can take turns using apps on iPads and Kindles from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday.

Youth ages 8 and older, and younger kids with a caregiver will be offered the in-house use of iPads on loan from Iowa Public Television, pre-loaded with educational apps, as well as the use of the library's iPads and Kindles. Apps and games for the library's own iPads and Kindles have been purchased largely thanks to a grant from the Martha Ellen Tye Foundation to enable youth staff to explore ways to integrate this new technology into programs.

"Appy Hour" will also be offered in the youth department from 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 25. Please call the library at 641-754-5738, extension 3, with questions.
