Local man arrested on meth, pot charges

A local man was arrested Tuesday for possession and intent to deliver 5 grams of methamphetamine and 47 grams of marijuana.

Chris Moore, 43, was found with the crystal meth and about $1,000 worth of marijuana, with the intent of delivering both, said Sgt. Joel Phillips, of the Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force.

Moore's girlfriend, Terese Odin, 48, was also arrested.

Odin had outstanding warrants out of Iowa County for second-degree theft.

Moore is being held in the Marshall County Jail with a $100,000 cash or surety bond. Odin was transferred to the Iowa County Jail.

Local man jailed for sexual assault

A local man faces third-degree sexual charges after allegedly assaulting an adult female.

Dillion Knight, 23, of Marshalltown, was arrested Sept. 6, for an assault that occurred on Aug. 31, according to police.

A third-degree sexual assault involves committing a sexual act by force.

Knight is in currently being held in the Marshall County Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond and could face up to 10 years in prison, if convicted.

Arrests

On Sunday, Neih Cung, age 30, of Waterloo, was arrested on Highway 14 south of 300th Street and charged with operating while intoxicated-first offense. Cung was released on promise to appear.

On Saturday, Mark Manlick, age 54, of Wellsburg, was arrested in Wellsburg and charged with domestic abuse assault. He was released on promise to appear.

On Sept. 5, Anthony Diamond, age 44, of Conrad, was arrested at his home and charged with domestic abuse assault. He posted bond and was released.

On Aug. 31, Kayla Albright, age 22, of Wellsburg, was arrested at the intersection of L Avenue and D-35 and charged with operating while intoxicated-first offense. She was released on promise to appear.

On Aug. 31, Jarrod Doty, age 27, of Grundy Center, was arrested in Grundy Center and charges with domestic abuse assault. He pleaded guilty and was released to Hardin County authorities on a Hardin County warrant charging him with failure to appear.

Accidents

On Sept. 6, a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old female juvenile from Reinbeck was exiting a parking spot in the Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School parking lot when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Mikayla Knaack, age 18, of Reinbeck, that was exiting a parking spot at the same time. No injuries were reported. Damage to the 16-year-old's vehicle was estimated at $200 while the Knaack car received an estimated $3,000 in damages.

On Sept. 6, a 2005 Mack truck driven by John Burton, age 27, of Walkerton, Ind., was westbound on Highway 20 when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Jamie Holkan, age 35, of Aplington, which was also traveling west at a slower speed and came to rest on the north shoulder. No injuries were reported. Burton was cited for following too close. Damage to the Burton truck was estimated at $2,000 while the Holkan car received an estimated $10,000 in damages.

On Sept. 4, a vehicle driven by Marleen Slatterly, age 60, of West Des Moines, was eastbound on Highway 20 when the driver fell asleep at the wheel, dropped the vehicle off the shoulder, came back onto the highway and entered the north shoulder after it struck a guardrail. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Slatterly vehicle was estimated at $7,200.

On Sunday, a vehicle driven by Shelby Tait-Staley, age 20, of Eagle Grove, was westbound on Highway 20 east of Highway 14 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Tait-Staley vehicle was estimated at $1,500.

On Aug. 31, a vehicle driven by Tonya Maxson, age 41, of Evansdale, was eastbound on Highway 57 east of W Avenue when it entered the north ditch, vaulted over a culvert and came to rest. No injuries were reported. Maxson was arrested for operating while intoxicated-second offense. She later posted bond and was released. Damage to the Maxson vehicle was estimated at $3,000.

Sept. 5

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a rescue call on Iowa Avenue East, a fire call to 1702 S. 12th Ave., and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1011 W. Nevada St., 1716 S. Center St., 1607 W. State St., 1211 W. State St., 713 N. Fourth Ave., 1602 S. Second Ave., and 206 Nicholas Drive.

Sept. 6

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to calls to 1505 Norris Place, 101 NewCastle Road, 1500 Lincoln Towers Circle, and 506 E. Anson St., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 112 W. Main St., 545 N. Third St., 1703 W. State St., and 211 E. Olive St.

Sept. 7

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to 10 medical assists with the EMS crew to: 211 E. Olive St., 1505 W. Main St., 2207 Dubois Circle, 20 W. Main St., 910 E. Olive St., 101 NewCastle Road, 604 N. Fourth St., 402 N. 10th Ave., 407 Melody Lane, and on South Third Avenue.

Sunday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a call to 1203 S. 12th St., and three fire calls to: 206 Nicholas Drive, 3100 Highway 30 East, and 1211 W. State St.

Monday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to calls to: 1211 W. State St., 1500 Lincoln Tower Circle, 2512 S. Eighth St., 2500 S. Center St., 300 E. State St., 408 W. High St., 2101 S. Center St., 402 N. 10th Ave., 1401 W. Main St., and West Iowa Avenue.

Tuesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a medical assist with the EMS crew to 206 S. 11th St., calls to: 807 S. 12th St., 209 N. First Ave., 709 Wood St., two rescue calls to 1000 S. Sixth St., and 206 Nicholas Drive, and three fire calls to: 212 W. Ingledue St., 900 S. Center St., and 402 Pleasantview Road.
