Victor (Vic) Varvel, 92, Lincoln, NE, passed away Sept. 12. Born in 1921, to E.E. and Lula Varvel, Vic grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa. While attending Iowa State Teachers College he met the love of his life, Irene. During WWII, Vic enlisted in the Army Air Corps and flew B-26 aircraft. After the war, Vic worked for Lennox Industries for 38 years, primarily as a Territory Sales manager.
Vic and Irene were married for 69 years and raised 4 children. Vic was a member of the American Legion and Masonic Lodge. He was active in the Men's Club at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Lincoln and taught himself to play the button box. He loved big bands, jazz, dancing, and singing in the church choir. He was an optimist, an inspiration, and a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; daughter Victoria (Marty) Stokke, Oklahoma; daughter Linda Varvel (Martha Hewett) , Minnesota; son Steven (Linda) Varvel, South Dakota; son John (Elizabeth) Varvel, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
