An explosion damaged a fertilizer storage facility in Bangor Township in northwestern Marshall County Saturday morning.
The facility is operated by Crop Production Services and no injuries were reported in the incident.
Kim Elder, director of Marshall County Emergency Management, said the explosion was believed to be in a furnace room of the office area and not chemical-related. It occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m.
Elder said it was fortunate that nobody was at the facility at the time.
"It could have been horrible if somebody was around," Elder said.
Elder said a small fire resulted from the explosion but it was out before firefighters arrived.
