The first fall "Afternoon at the Library Movie" will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Marshalltown Public Library.
This year's films will explore other cultures. Some of the films are dramatic and some are comical but all films are guaranteed to be enjoyable. The movie license forbids the use of the film title in a newspaper release; therefore, the guessing game as in previous years will commence.
The first film is a charming family drama about a very chaotic Indian wedding. The father of the bride is trying to organize an enormous and expensive wedding for his daughter, for whom he has arranged a marriage with a man she has only know for a few weeks.
The extended family comes together from all corners of the globe and they all bring their emotional baggage. The four-day arrangements and celebrations will see clumsy organization, family parties and drama, dangers to the happy ending and lots of music. This film won the Golden Lion, the highest prize given at the Venice Film Festival.
