Rafael Martinez believed his talented freshman class would play a pivotal role in the Tigers' success this season.

First-year forward John Krause bolstered that claim after being named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Krause earned the honor after leading the Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team to a pair of victories last week. Krause assisted on two goals in a 4-2 win over Iowa Lakes CC on Sept. 17, before scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-1 triumph over North Iowa Area CC Saturday.

The Ballard grad ranks second on the team with five goals and his four assists are tied for first. The Tigers (7-2-1) travel to Indian Hills CC Wednesday for an ICCAC match at 4 p.m.
