OTTUMWA - The Marshalltown Community College men's soccer squad is receiving votes in the NJCAA Division I poll again, and the Tigers put an exclamation point on the change with a 10-0 whipping of Indian Hills CC on Wednesday.
MCC's season-high goal-scoring output came courtesy of a hat trick from Jose Gomez, who tallied two of his three goals during the Tigers' seven-goal second half. Juan Carillo contributed a goal and three assists, while Ralph Duopu pitched in a goal and two assists. John Krause tallied a goal and an assist.
It marked the fourth straight win for the Tigers (8-2-1, 4-1-0) and left the host Indian Hills squad without a win (0-8-0, 0-5-0).
Additional goals came from Marcus Boehler and Andrew Valett, while Chester Killen had two assists and Bill Baye added another.
Julian Pena and Andrew Waterfall made a combined four saves in the Tigers' fourth shutout victory this season.
MCC was slated to face Minnesota International University on Saturday in Marshalltown, but that contest will be rescheduled. Next up for the Tigers is Tuesday's home match against Iowa Central, slated for a 4 p.m. start.
