TAMA - The mother-in-law of a woman found dead inside a Tama house has been charged with first-degree murder.
Ginger Jefferson, 57, was originally taken into custody as a material witness in the death of 32-year-old Kerry O'Clair-Jefferson. O'Clair-Jefferson's body was found inside a Tama house, 104 Harmon St., Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities say an autopsy shows O'Clair-Jefferson died of stab wounds to her neck.
Jefferson made an initial court appearance Friday and is being held at the Tama County Jail on $1 million cash-only bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 7.
Kerry O'Clair-Jefferson was married to Dustin Jefferson, Ginger Jefferson's son.
