Pam Cheville of Marshalltown is shown lowering her picker after selecting a batch of Cortland apples at Marshalltown’s Appleberry Farm Sunday. Cheville was out with other family members and said they visit the business annually to pick apples, even when the family had an apple tree. Her family likes the variety available and said Cortlands “are a good eating apple.” Appleberry Farm has a bumper crop of apples this season, said owner-operator Bob Atha, which has resulted in solid sales. The business at 2402 W. Main St. regularly attracts customers from surrounding counties, as demonstrated Sunday with autos from Benton, Dallas, Jasper and Polk counties in the businesses parking lot.
