The Iowa Valley Community College District has posted a job for a person to lead the operation at the Orpheum Theater.

The district is looking for an event coordinator for the theater and the job description indicates this person is responsible for the general operation of the theater.

College leaders have not said that Orpheum Director Pip Gordon has resigned, but this posted position appears to mirror her duties with the theater.

The Orpheum Theater, shown here, is looking for a new operational director, according to a job posted by the Iowa Valley Community College District.

Gordon's fiscal leadership has been under scrutiny by college leaders as the theater has lost hundreds of thousands of dollars annually over the past few years, directly affecting the Iowa Valley budget.

The event coordinator job was posted internally on Friday and was posted to the public Wednesday. The annual salary range is from $31,949 to $49,522.

Gordon started at the Orpheum as director on Dec. 14, 2009.

Iowa Valley Chancellor Chris Duree did not return a call by press time Wednesday. Gordon has not returned multiple calls placed by the Times-Republican.
