Bonna Lea Gonzales, 62, Guthrie Center, died at home Sun., Sept. 29, 2013 from complications of living more than four years with breast cancer. She was born Nov. 26, 1950 to Clyde and Anna Mae (Williams) Evers in Waterloo, IA. Bonna graduated from Marshalltown High in 1969 and Central College in 1973. She taught school at Bayard for three years and then was a substitute teacher. Over time, her newspaper responsibilities grew with ownership of the Guthrie County Vedette, Panora, and the Guthrie Center Times.
Survivors include her husband Scott; daughters Sunny (Nathan) Eighmy, Pella, and Abby (Nic) Larson, Osage; her Eighmy grandchildren, Piper and the Tribe (triplets Saylor, Zoey and Fynn); her father, Clyde Evers, Marshalltown; sisters Diana Evers, Iowa City, Emilie (Warren) Olson, Marengo, Faith Evers, Stewartville, MN; mother-in-law Margradelle Gonzales, Guthrie Center.
Visitation will be Thurs., Oct. 3 at Twigg Funeral Home, Guthrie Center, 4 to 8 p.m. with family present 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be Fri., Oct. 4 at 10:30 a.m. at the Methodist Church, Guthrie Center.
