PLEASANT HILL - The Marshalltown girls' swim team got a four-point boost from its divers from Tuesday's Central Iowa Conference competition at Southeast Polk High School.
The Bobcats got a pair of placewinner performances, with senior Phoebe Lynk and sophomore Katie Gassman scoring points with top-16 finishes.
Lynk tallied an 11-dive score of 288.15 to finish in 14th place while Gassman finished just shy of her season-best total with a 246.75 for 16th.
Mary Drummer, a freshman, was 17th with her season-best score of 211.65 for the Bobcats.
On Saturday, Lynk posted a personal-best total of 313.00 during the Bobcat Diving Invitational at MHS.
Ames junior Maggie James, the reigning two-time state champion, won the CIC meet with a 458.95. It's the third-best score posted in the state this fall. Her teammate, senior Jess Misra, notched the sixth-best score in Iowa with a 424.25 total.
The Little Cyclones have the early advantage for the CIC meet with 46 points. Dowling Catholic (38), West Des Moines Valley (36), Johnston (20) and Waukee (11) also scored in diving. Today's swimming competition begins at 5 p.m. back at Southeast Polk.
