CEDAR RAPIDS - The Marshalltown Community College volleyball program's first winning season since 2005 came to an abrupt end on Tuesday night as the Tigers were swept from the NJCAA Division II Region XI-B bracket by seventh-ranked Kirkwood.
The host Eagles (32-7) overcame early leads for Marshalltown in each set, winning 25-16, 25-19, 25-18 to advance to Saturday's finals in Fort Dodge. Kirkwood will take on second-seeded Southwestern (33-9) at 3 p.m. at Iowa Central, following the Region XI-A title bout between No. 14 DMACC (32-10) and the host Tritons (19-23).
