James "Jim" Tough, 76, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to The Michael J. James LeRoy Tough was born on March 10, 1937 in rural Kellogg, Iowa; he was the son of LeRoy and Shirley (Arnold) Tough. James attended school in the Albion High School District graduating with the class of 1956. On May 20, 1960 James was united in marriage to Joan Donaldson at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. They resided on the farm in rural Marshalltown. James was a farmer, worked at Fisher Controls for 17 and 1/2 years, owned and operated his semi, sold Funks and Lynks Seed Corn, worked for ASCS during the winter months and drove a tour bus. Jim had been a member of the Farm Bureau, Gun Club of Marshalltown, Good Sam's camping club and The First Baptist Church in Marshalltown, Jim also had his pilot's license and enjoyed flying and restoring old Farmall tractors.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Joan, Daughters: Christine Griffin of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Deanna (Henry) Seiler of Albion, Iowa, Grandchildren, Ryan Griffin of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Catie Griffin of Raleigh, North Carolina. Siblings; Ellen Hazen of Marshalltown, Iowa, Alice Vogt of Keokuk, Iowa, Margaret Kroener of Albion, Iowa, Janice(Dean) Springer of Marshalltown, Iowa, Rosemary Tough of Marshalltown, Iowa, Ruth Dawson of Marshalltown, Iowa and Barbara Specht of Ottumwa, Iowa, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
In death James rejoins his parents, LeRoy and Shirley, siblings Carolyn (Carol) Williams, Robert Tough, brother-in-laws: Fred Hazen, William Kroener and Craig Dawson.
