The Iowa Valley Community College District Board of Directors met in a regular monthly meeting Wednesday at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls.
As part of the meeting, a public hearing for plans was set for the Marshalltown Community College facility renovation. The public hearing will be at 4 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Iowa Valley board room during the next regular board meeting in Marshalltown. The estimated $1.7 million renovation work includes facility updates for the health occupations and advanced manufacturing programs at MCC. Designs will be presented by Haila Architecture at the Dec. 11 meeting.
The board also approved a lease agreement between Iowa Valley and Saak Family Farms for the college-owned farmland in the MCC area for the 2014 through 2016 crop years. The lease includes $310 per ace for 2014, $330 an acre for 2015 and $350 an acre for 2016. This is a renewal of the lease for approximately 100 tillable acres
The resignation of Pip Gordon as director of the Orpheum Theater was approved at the meeting Wednesday. It was effective Oct. 28.
