The community is invited to take part in the 61st Anniversary "Messiah" performance to be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Hope United Methodist Church, 2203 S. Third Ave.
Once again the Advent production will be wrapped up in one evening. This year, however, the performance will be shortened further placing greater emphasis on the community chorus as no solo parts will be sung. Without prior rehearsals, chorus members will simply walk in and sing on the evening of Dec. 1.
The more streamlined production will help accommodate a larger number of central Iowa music enthusiasts. Singers may bring their own scores or purchase one at the program for $14. This format accommodates people with busy schedules and all are invited to take the opportunity to be a part of this community holiday tradition.

The “Messiah” will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at Hope United Methodist Church, 2203 S. Third Ave. in Marshalltown.
The Central Iowa Choral Society especially encourages all singers who have participated in the past as well as those who are experienced sight readers to join the chorus. Those who prefer not to sing will still have the opportunity to sit in the audience and enjoy the performance.
However, everyone will be invited to join in on the "Hallelujah Chorus." Even though the event has changed in many ways, "Messiah's" commitment to excellence remains unchanged.
Harlan Nuss once again continues the tradition of excellence as director with Chad Mussig's experienced accompaniment on the organ. Light refreshments will follow the performance.
