AMES - Redshirt freshman Grant Rohach helped Iowa State rally from 24 points down Saturday night and for that, he was honored by the Big 12 Conference on Monday.
Rohach threw for 331 yards and four touchdowns as the Cyclones beat West Virginia, 52-44, in triple overtime despite trailing 38-21 in the fourth quarter.
Rohach led the Cyclones to scores on their final seven possessions, including two touchdown passes to Justin Coleman. The final TD pass to Coleman came in the third overtime and ultimately was the game-winner.
It was the first Big 12 honor for Rohach, who also had a 54-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. He also is the only Cyclone freshman to throw for more than 300 yards twice in the same season.
Iowa State's 3-9 season ended with back-to-back wins.
