Local woman throws shoe at boyfriend

A woman has been arrested for allegedly throwing a shoe at her boyfriend she lived with and then hit him several times on the face.

Stephanie L. Carl, 36, was arrested Thursday on the 700 block of Noble Street after officers arrived to their home.

According to police, when they arrived they could hear the couple arguing outside of the home. Carl was in the process of splitting up with her boyfriend when the argument escalated to the alleged assault.

The victim had a bloody nose and mouth. Carl is charged with serious domestic assault.

Thursday

Jimmy Allen Austgen, 609 E. Main St., made an initial appearance on two counts of a burglary-third degree charge and two counts of a possession of stolen property charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Dec. 20. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

Ashley Campbell, 3108 S. Center St. #125, made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge, a burglary-third degree charge and two counts of being in possession of stolen property. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Dec. 20. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

Melvin Hoffman Jr., 206 Nicholas Drive Apt. #22, made an initial appearance on a aiding and abetting criminal mischief-fourth degree. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Dec. 31. Hoffman was released on his own recognizance.

Lyndon Bert Johnson, of Tama, made an initial appearance on a public intoxication-enhanced charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Dec. 31. He was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered him to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date. It was also ordered Johnson to be photographed and fingerprinted at the Marshalltown Police Department by 4 p.m. today.

Friday

Jared Kupka, address unknown, made an initial appearance on 10 counts of a violation of a no-contact order charge. He will hire his own counsel. A contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Court as its docket permits. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety. The court ordered that if he owned or possessed any firearms, Kupka is to contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Office within 24 hours to make arrangements to surrender them. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

William Ray Rhoades III, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a probation revocation and a escape from custody charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 11:15 a.m. Dec. 30. The preliminary hearing on the escape charge is at 1 p.m. Dec. 23. Bond on the probation revocation is $5,000 cash and on the escape charge $2,000 cash or surety.

Breanna Leigh Harrelson, 108 N. 11th Ave., made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated charge, an open container charge and a striking an unattended vehicle charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing was scheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 31. Bond previously posted will continue until the conclusion of this case. The court ordered a substance abuse evaluation to be completed and submitted to the court within 60 days of today's date.

A parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by the Department of Correctional Services as its calendar permits. Miller is being held without bond.

Joshua Goldsholle, of Story City, made an initial appearance on a being in a public park after hours charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set at 9 a.m. Jan. 7.

David Bawi Thang, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a no valid driver's license charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330 due within 30 days of today's date or it will be turned over to collections.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 402 N. 10th Ave., 109 N. 22nd St., 26 S. First Ave., 408 E. State St. and 405 W. Church St.

Tuesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an extrication of victims from vehicle on South Center Street and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 111 W. Grant St., 1734 Country Club Lane, 8 S. Fifth Ave. and 7 N. 10th Ave.

Monday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an alarm system malfunction at 1301 Summit St., a building fire at 503 1/2 N. First Ave. and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 521 N. First St., 514 Bromley St., 504 N. Second Ave. and 1703 Brookside Road.

Incidents

On Sunday, Kurt Willson Prue, of Le Grand, reported the theft of a Craftsman air compressor from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $1,000.

On Nov. 22, Pearl Lynn Shively, of Laurel, reported damage to a rear window on a 2005 Ford Escape while parked at her residence. Estimated value of damage was $100.

On Tuesday, Kevin Edward Kapayou Sr., of Tama, was arrested for driving while revoked.

On Tuesday, Matthew Andrew McCanna, 709 Bromley St., was arrested for probation revocation.

On Tuesday, Jorge Oscar Sanchez-Vazquez, 1907 Blossom Lane, was arrested for selling/dispensing alcohol after hours.

On Sunday, Shawnda Lynn Groth, of Garwin, was arrested for interference with official acts, failure to obey a stop sign, speeding and failure to yield to emergency vehicle.
