Scoring just two points in the first six minutes, the Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team played catch-up the whole day in a 113-70 loss to NJCAA Division II No. 14 ranked Iowa Central Saturday.
The Tritons (10-2, 1-1) jumped out to a 32-11 lead at the seven-minute mark and led 47-25 at the break. Iowa Central, the second-highest scoring team in the ICCAC, drilled 11 3-pointers and made 24-of-30 from the free throw line to halt MCC's eight-game win streak.
Mackenzie Gott and Jasmin Howe scored 17 points apiece to lead the Tigers (10-2, 1-1) who are off until Jan. 4 when they host North Iowa Area Community College, which is ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA Division II poll.
Gott also had a team-high six rebounds.
Ilsie Calles scored nine points off the bench, while Jamerka Martin, Kaleigh Sieck and Rusty Henio each had eight.
