COLO - Facing an 11-point deficit in the third quarter, the Class 1A No. 3 ranked Colo-NESCO girls' basketball team rallied for a 52-50 triumph over West Marshall in non-conference play Saturday.
Madison Farren racked up a career-high 23 points as the Royals regrouped behind a strong rebounding effort in the second half to earn a season sweep over the Trojans.
West Marshall seized a 18-8 lead after the opening frame and held a 32-23 advantage at the break. Colo-NESCO (7-0) outscored the visitors 15-6 in the third to tie it up as the Trojans went cold from the field. The Royals relied on some West Marshall turnovers to prevail in the fourth as Caitlyn Riese tallied 13 points, 14 rebounds and three steals, while Shayla Dean had 10 points, six steals and four assists. Farren added five boards and four steals.
Gabby Reyerson led West Marshall (3-5) with 18 points and 10 rebounds as Rachel Freland scored 15. Mackenzie Coberley added seven points, Addie Wilkinson had six and Madie Streeter four. Wikinson corralled eight boards and Streeter grabbed seven.
The Trojans host BCLUW Tuesday in NICL West Division play, while the Royals face Meskwaki Settlement on the road that same night in Iowa Star Conference action.
