Marshalltown Police Department
On Dec. 20, a city bus driven by Michael Wayne Wilson, 610 Marion St., was southbound in the 200 block of 13th Street when it went into a slid on the icy roadway continuing off the road at the 13th and Fremont Streets intersection striking a fire hydrant. No injuries were reported. Damage to the bus was estimated at $254 while the fire hydrant received an estimated $60 in damage.
On Dec. 19, a Schwann's truck driven by David James Place, of Hampton, was traveling in the 2600 block of Summit Street when, due to icy road conditions and other vehicles stuck on the roadway, it proceeded to go into a slid from a stopped position, went onto the shoulder and rolled down the embankment coming to rest on the driver's side. An officer on the scene made contact with the driver and assisted him out of the truck. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Schwann's truck was estimated at $2,500.
On Dec. 16, a vehicle driven by an as yet unknown driver was exiting a parking spot in the Walmart parking lot when it backed into a legally parked vehicle, left the scene traveling the wrong way through the parking lot and striking a shopping cart causing it to collide with a a legally parked pickup. No injuries were reported. Damage to the offending vehicle was estimated at $1,000 while the legally parked vehicle received an estimated $200 in damage and the legally parked pickup an estimated $500 in damage.
On Dec. 12, a vehicle driven by Jesus Colunga Silva, 804 W. State St., was eastbound on Marshalltown Boulevard/Lincoln Way when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Colunga Silva vehicle was estimated at $7,500.
Marshall County Courthouse
Tressa Voss, 207 W. Church St. Apt. #1, made an initial appearance on a false reporting charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 10. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.
Thomas Paul Miller, 408 W. High St., made an initial appearance on two counts of a burglary-third degree charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 3. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.
Mitchell Lynnwood Dunston, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a failure to maintain or use safety belt charge. He pleaded guilty to both charges. On the driving under suspension charge the fine was $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. The fine on the safety belt charge was $50 with a 17.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $127.50. Both penalties are due immediately or after 30 days will be turned over to collections.
Tyler Rundall, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a failure to maintain control charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Jan. 21 in Magistrate Court.
Marshalltown Fire Department
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 203 S. Third Ave., 209 1/2 N. First Ave., 304 1/2 W. State St., and 604 E. Church St.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 708 Henry Drive, 208 N. 14th St., 1438 Summit St., 1211 W. State St., and 802 S. Center St.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an extrication of victims at 1500 Sanford Ave., and 2800 Highway 30, and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 410 S. First Ave., 308 W. High St., 4 N. 12th Ave., 1108 W. Iowa Ave., 2204 Elmcrest Drive, and 1211 W. State St.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 2250 Marshalltown Blvd., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 206 1/2 N. Ninth St., 20 E. State St., 1202 W. Main St., 114 N. Center St., 1610 Fremont St., and 901 N. Fourth St.
