AMES - Iowa State senior linebacker Jeremiah George has been invited to play in the 2014 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on Jan. 18 in Carson, Calif.

The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl was established in 2012 as a postseason all-star game for draft-eligible college football players.

"This is a game that is put on by the actual player union, and with dreams of playing in the National Football League, it makes me feel like I am one step closer," George said.

George was a first-team all-Big 12 selection this past season for the Cyclones, leading the Big 12 Conference with 11.1 tackles per game. He led Iowa State in tackles (133), tackles for loss (12), sacks (3.5), interceptions (2) and forced fumbles (3).

"I have signed with an agent and I will be training in the next couple of months in Houston with a couple other top athletes," George said. "I am preparing right now for the draft, pro day and the NFL combine. I am going full speed ahead chasing the dream."

Fellow Cyclones Kirby Van Der Kamp (Senior Bowl) and Deon Broomfield (Medal of Honor Bowl) have also been invited to play in postseason all-star games.
