Fort Dodge matmen hold off Bobcats, 39-24

FORT DODGE - Derek Mann and Josh Edel started and ended the dual with wins by fall, though Fort Dodge won seven of 11 contested matches in between to claim a 39-24 victory over the Marshalltown wrestling team Friday.

Mann, ranked No. 2 in Class 3A at 182 pounds, pinned Keaton Domath in 1 minute, 43 seconds, while Edel flattened Bryce Huebsch just a second earlier at 170 in a dual between Central Iowa Conference Northern Division foes.

Ben Rebik lessened the damage in a 5-1 defeat by decision against No. 7 ranked Sam Cook at 195, while No. 8 Riley Prescott had to work for an 11-5 decision over the Bobcats' Justus Bjelland at 285. Ninth-ranked Jonah Egli earned a 5-3 decision over Marshalltown's Peyton Williams at 160, while there was no match at 220.

Reese Hageman (132) and Mitch O'Hare (138) each secured one-point wins by decision, while Anthony Fleck won by forfeit at 152.

Triston Lara (113) and Erik Birnbaum (120) both rated No. 4 at their weights, posted two of the Dodgers' four pins in the meet.

Marshalltown heads to Waukee Monday for a double-dual against the Warriors and West Des Moines Valley. The meet starts at 5:30 p.m.
