Members of the Marshalltown Community College men's basketball team swept the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference's weekly honors after helping the Tigers to a 1-1 record on the road last week.

Freshman guard Mike Rodriguez collected the ICCAC's Division I Offensive Player of the Week accolade, while sophomore forward Troidell Carter was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week.

Rodriguez made his first starts of the season last week, averaging 19.5 points, 6.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2 steals per game.

The Tigers took down host Kirkwood, previously ranked No. 13 in NJCAA D-II, before falling to then-No. 10 Iowa Western in Saturday's conference contest in Council Bluffs.

Rodriguez, from Boston, scored 23 points in the 10-point loss to Iowa Western.

Carter, a Lilburn, Ga., native, posted back-to-back double-doubles last week.

He tallied 15 points and matched a career-high with 14 rebounds against Kirkwood, and followed that performance up with 17 points and 10 boards at Iowa Western.

The Tigers (9-9, 0-2) next travel to ICCAC rival Northeast (Neb.) at 7 p.m. Saturday. ?
