Talk to a couple of teachers at Lenihan Intermediate School and they'll both say the same thing - sixth grader Ivan Solis Padilla is a great student.

Both Crystal Gassman and Jake Dannen teach Padilla at the school and they have plenty of good things to say about him.

"Ivan is an all around great student and a pleasure to have in my class," Gassman said. "He works hard, stays connected to learning and is committed to get the most out of every learning opportunity."

Dannen said Padilla doesn't "follow the crowd" and charts his own course in learning.

"He's a strong individual and a good friend to his peers," Dannen said.

Padilla's positivity also shines through as far as Gassman is concerned.

"I have never heard him say an unkind word or have a negative attitude when asked to complete a task," she said.

Padilla said he enjoys school and wants to do his best.

"I like to learn new things," he said.
