PREP HOOPS: Rebels return to rankings, rout rival Grundy Center

REINBECK - Camden Kickbush tallied 17 points, eight assists, five rebounds and four steals as Class 1A No. 10-ranked Gladbrook-Reinbeck gouged neighbor and rival Grundy Center 67-38 in NICL West Division boys basketball action on Tuesday night.

Chase Clark scored a season-high 14 points, Joe Smoldt had 13 points and four steals, and Zach Pierce contributed eight points and a team-high seven rebounds in the Rebels' eighth straight win. Colton Dinsdale chipped in six points and four steals as Gladbrook-Reinbeck (16-2, 12-1) got out to a 46-12 halftime lead.

The short jaunt down Highway 175 was a long one for Grundy Center (6-12, 5-8), which lost for the fourth time in its last five games.

Brady Hook led the Spartans with 12 points and nine rebounds, and Jordan Stoner finished with eight points.

Grundy Center closes its NICL West schedule Friday at West Marshall, while G-R tries to clinch the outright conference crown on Friday at East Marshall.

Meskwaki Settlement 68, Don Bosco 52

GILBERTVILLE - The Meskwaki Warriors inched closer to an Iowa Star Conference South Division title thanks to a frantic fourth quarter, outscoring Don Bosco 26-10 in the final frame for a 68-52 win.

The Warriors (17-2, 13-2) netted 13 3-pointers in the victory, coming back from a halftime deficit after Don Bosco (9-10, 7-8) had outscored them 24-15 in the second quarter.

Allis Tahahwah led the Warriors with 19 points, Royce Timberwolf finished with 18 points, Eammon Tahahwah had 13 and Demarce Keahna returned to action with 11 points.

Meskwaki closes out Iowa Star play on Friday at Colo-NESCO (13-5, 11-3) against a Royals team chasing in second place in the league standings.

GIRLS

Grundy Center 41, Gladbrook-Reinbeck 37

REINBECK - Ally Jansen matched her season high with 20 points, going 4-of-8 from 3-point range to lead Grundy Center past Gladbrook-Reinbeck 41-37 in NICL West Division play.

Katie Lindeman notched a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Jessica Ackerson tallied five points, seven steals and six assists for the Spartans (10-8, 6-7). Both Jansen and Lindeman shot 6-for-8 at the free-throw line as Grundy Center was 15-of-22 as a team.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck's Hayley Weber scored 12 of her team-leading 15 points in the first half, but the Rebels (7-11, 4-9) surrendered the lead for good late in the fourth quarter. Jansen shot 4-for-4 from the line in the closing minutes to seal the Spartan victory.

Amber Berendes added seven points and Nicole Adair had six more for the Rebels, who lost their third straight.

BCLUW 45, AGWSR 38

CONRAD - Olivia Callaway scored 13 points and Samantha Ubben added 11 as BCLUW ended a five-game losing streak with a 45-38 win over AGWSR.

Nicole Montgomery added eight points, while Kendall Scurr had six points and six rebounds for the Comets (5-12, 3-9).

The loss was the third in the last four games for AGWSR (9-9, 7-6).
