She was characterized by an indomitable spirit, perseverance and tenacity. Widowed early with three small children, Marie met the calamities of life head on, spending many years working the swing shift at the pencil factory. Strong-willed, she lived independently up until the end. She found solace in the mellow tones of Nat King Cole, delighted in Eartha Kit, Yma Sumac, and Jay Leno. Marie loved visits to the duck pond, gardening, and she had a special fondness for azaleas.

Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice. Burial will be at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery Wilkes-Barre, PA.

... To die, to sleep ... For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come, When we have shuffled off this mortal coil.
