Mary Alexandra Valdovinos, 410 N. 15th Ave., made an initial appearance on a forgery charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on March 5. Valdovinos was released on her own recognizance.
Johana Carlo Gonzalez, 410 E. Boone St., made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a failure to have a valid driver's license charge. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on March 18 in Magistrate Court.
Ruben Alexis Maldonad Carlo, 410 E. Boone St., made an initial appearance on a unlawful passing of a school bus charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on March 18 in Magistrate Court.
Javier Contreras, 303 S. Fourth Ave. Apt. #2, made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a driving under suspension charge and a speeding charge, 49-in-a-35 mile per hour zone. He pleaded guilty to both charges. On the driving under suspension charge the fine was $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. The fine on the speeding charge was $80 with a $28 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $168. All payments are due within 30 days of today's date.
Ki Dung, 106 S. Second St., made an initial appearance through a Burmese interpreter on a public intoxication charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The court condemned the bond to pay the charges with the remainder being returned to Ki Dung.

On Wednesday, Wayne Michael Mohon, 204 N. 21st St., was arrested for probation violation.
On Wednesday, Eric Ramone Lasley, 505 N. Fifth St., was arrested for probation violation.
On Wednesday, Korey Daun Bachman, of Middletown, Calif., was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
On Monday, Edward David Stokes Jr., 402 Washington St., was arrested for six counts of violation of a no-contact order stemming from a domestic assault.
On Monday, Linda Christine Mancina, of Springfield, was arrested for theft-third degree.
On Feb. 8, Ki Dung, 106 S. Second St. Apt. #4, was arrested for public intoxication.
On Wednesday, a car driven by Jennifer Marie Harrington, of Melbourne, was northbound on Reed Avenue when it started fishtailing, the driver over-corrected and collided with a car driven by Alyssa Michele Mobley, 305 Edgewood St., which was traveling south on Reed Avenue. Mobley was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with possible injuries by a friend. Harrington was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Harrington car was estimated at $2,500 while the Mobley car received an estimated $3,000 in damage.
On Wednesday, a car driven by Robert William Determan, of Haverhill, was traveling south on Hart Avenue when it drove into the path of a snowplow driven by Robert Clark Smith, 303 S. Fourth St., which was clearing the crossover area between the east and west lanes on Highway 30 and the two collided. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Determan car was estimated at $3,000.
Marshalltown Police Department
On Thursday, Jose Garcia, 211 S. Second St., reported hit and run damage to the left front area on a 1997 Nissan Quest while parked at his residence. Estimated value of damage was $1,000.
On Thursday, a car driven by Sara Jane Tuttle, of State Center, was northbound on Highway 14 approaching Westwood Drive when it collided with the rear of a car driven by a 15-year-old female from Marshalltown which was slowing for a yellow light. No injuries were reported. Tuttle was cited for following too close. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $2,500 each.
On Monday, a vehicle driven by Kenneth Lee Walton, 1319 W. Linn St., was traveling on South Sixth Street approaching South Third Street when the driver was blinded by the sun causing the vehicle to collide with the rear of a pickup driven by John Howard Stevens, 2406 New Salem Road, which was stopped at the stop sign. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Walton vehicle was estimated at $1,500 while the Stevens pickup received an estimated $200 in damage.
On Feb. 8, a car driven by Mary Quigley Stevens, 2406 New Salem Road, was eastbound on East Southridge Road attempting to turn onto Plaza Drive when the slick road conditions contributed to the car sliding into a vehicle driven by a 15-year-old female from Marshalltown which was stopped at the stop sign on Plaza Drive. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,500 each.
