House fire reaches attic

March 7, 2014
A house fire reached the attic of a Marshalltown home Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters were called at about 3:50 p.m., to 610 W. Nevada St., to extinguish the fire to the two-story home.
Scott Johnson, acting fire chief, said nobody was in the house when the fire started and 11 firefighters responded to the scene.
Depending on what the owner’s insurance company decides, Johnson said the home may be salvageable.
The cause of the fire is unknown and is still being investigated by the Marshalltown fire marshal.
