An anchor of the revitalization of 13th Street has closed.
After nearly three years in business, Morning Glory Bakery owners announced Sunday it would no longer be open for business. The shop, run by Marshalltown couple Laurie and Dave Wadle, has been known for its wide array of popular desserts and other treats.
The couple made the announcement on the Morning Glory Facebook page.

Yellow signs reading 'Out of Business' are posted in the windows of the Morning Glory Bakery in Marshalltown. The business closed this week after nearly three years on 13th Street.
Several yellow signs are posted on the windows of the business which read: "Out of Business. Thank you for your business the past 3 years. It's with great sadness that we say goodbye. - The Wadles."
At the same time, Morning Glory has also closed its second location at the Orpheum Theater, a partnership that began last fall. A similar yellow sign was posted on the door of the Orpheum coffee shop.
The Wadles agreed to a three-year lease with the Iowa Valley Community College District to rent the Orpheum coffee shop space last fall.
Iowa Valley Chancellor Chris Duree said the closing of the Orpheum location was unexpected.
"We're still pursuing the details that go with the legal termination of the lease agreement," Duree said. "We have a lot questions that need to be answered."
Duree said they will look into another vendor to operate the Orpheum coffee shop into the future.
Dozens of area residents took to the Facebook page of the business to say how sad they were that the store was closing.
The Wadles could not be reached for comment Monday.
