For many years, the annual flower beds in Riverview Park have been an attraction that draws visitors to the park on a daily basis.
The planning, planting and maintenance of the beds is done by the Parks and Recreation staff. The cost of the plants themselves has been paid for through an Adopt-a-Bed program. The individual flower beds are then marked with a sign with the sponsor's name.
The beds are in jeopardy this year due to lack of sponsors. The cost to adopt varies on the size of the bed selected, but contributions of any amount would be welcome.
Any individual, group or business that has an interested can contact the Parks and Recreation office, 641-754-5715, or send donations to 10 W. State St.
