New emergency department manager at GCMH
GRUNDY CENTER - An experienced emergency nurse and flight medic is the new Emergency Department manager at Grundy County Memorial Hospital.
Michael Nelsestuen, RN, of Grundy Center, joins the GCMH team after serving as both a charge nurse and trauma nurse in the Emergency Department at UnityPoint - Allen Hospital, where he worked for 13 years. He is also a paramedic and flight medic, with more than 500 hours of flying critically injured patients while serving with the Iowa National Guard during tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The GCMH Emergency Department has received national recognition for its excellent patient satisfaction rates for five consecutive years. Nelsestuen says his focus is to maintain the consistently high standard of patient care and level of satisfaction through exceeding expectations for emergency care. "It begins with the care and concern people experience from our registration staff, to the patient-centered care that our physicians and nurses provide," he says.
GCMH CEO Brian Kellar said Nelsestuen's experience in trauma care provides a strong background for leading the Emergency Department.
GCMH is a critical access hospital, affiliated with UnityPoint - Allen Hospital and UnityPoint Health System. More information about the health care services available at GCMH may be found at www.grundycountyhospital.org
