Improvements are underway on the north side of Marshalltown’s Emergency Food Box, 109 S. Third St. Marv Kuehner of Kuehner Construction Co. of Marshalltown, said he and co-worker were preparing to install siding. On May 10, area letter carriers will be collecting non-perishable food donations left by mailboxes and in the post office for the Emergency Food Box and Salvation Army. Residents are asked to put “non-perishable” food items next to one’s mailbox before letter carrier delivers mail. Residents are asked to check the dates on donated food items to ensure they have not expired. Boxed/bagged items are to be sealed, and cans undamaged.
