After a weeklong Bike-to-Work event, the Iowa Valley Bicycle Club will end the week on Saturday by sponsoring its XXIX annual Marshmallo ride.
Marshmallo offers three different distances for riders of all abilities wanting to participate. There are 30, 50 and 100 mile options. The 100 milers will register and leave at 7:00am with a meal at the 50 mile mark. The others will register at 8 p.m. and leave at 9 a.m. Shirts are available for $10 ($12 for XXL).
All rides will leave from the Marshalltown Y Cultural Center near the Center Street viaduct (east of the new YMCA). Price is $25 with children under 12 free with a paying parent/guardian. The entry fee includes map, sag service, rest stops with snacks, a meal at the Cultural Center at the end of the ride and a drawing for door prizes.
Dana Bresler of the Iowa Valley Bicycle Club gives final instructions to riders participating in last year’s Marshmallo ride.
All profits from this ride will go to TRAILS, Inc., a local non-profit corporation helping in the development of the Iowa River Trail, a 34 mile recreational trail extending from Marshalltown to Steamboat Rock. So, come and bring a friend and support the Iowa River Trail, a trail that boasts some of the most beautiful scenery in Iowa.
