The P.M. Kiwanis held it regular meeting in the Hy-Vee Dining area starting at 7 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a silent prayer.
President Kenny Lamb presided and introduced the speaker for the evening representing Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Lynn Carroll. This program has been in Marshalltown for 41 years, non-profit. It helps a child to read and visit about things. This is for six-year-olds through high school.
Many who have helped with this program have a lasting friendship for life. The child learns to say what is on his mind, given the right concept. This group has a waiting list of 48 kids so they could use more volunteers. They also learn activities-bowling, fishing, group playing, etc.
Lynne Carroll, right, of Big Brothers Big Sisters spoke at the Wednesday meeting of the P.M. Kiwanis. She is pictured with President Kenny Lamb.
During the business meeting the group discussed the upcoming garage sale at the Fairgrounds activity building on June 5 and 6. As usual, there will be bargains galore and all the proceeds go back to the area children.
Next week the speaker will be Mary Giese. Join us at 7 p.m. for the program and meeting following dinner on your own.
