Lauren Gehrke and Taylor Johnson were united in marriage on May 17 at 4 p.m. The ceremony was held at Westchester Evangelical Free Church in Des Moines with a dinner reception following at Stoney Creek Inn in Johnston. Pastor Don Long officiated the ceremony. Kirk Johnson, uncle of the groom, and Josh Piquard, friend of the bride, read Scripture selections.
The bride is the daughter of Tom and Jessica Gehrke, of Johnston. The groom is the son of Steve and Barb Johnson, of Le Grand.
Escorted by her father, and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a Jacquelin exclusive sleeveless ivory gown featuring sweetheart neckline, V-shaped back, trumpet skirt and chapel length train, entirely overlaid with lace and accented by jeweled sash at the waist.
Meridith Flickinger, of Des Moines, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids included Charlotte Johnson, sister of the groom; Anna Tucker, of Johnston; Erin Bodkins, cousin of the bride, of Washington, Iowa; and Morgan Riessen, of Johnston. Natalie Hall was flower girl.
Zack Johnson, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen included Kyle Rouse and Collin Barker, both of Cedar Rapids; Bryan Stewart, of Le Grand; and Ryan Rice, of Dayton.
Jacob Gehrke, Jonah Gehrke and Garrett Gehrke, brothers of the bride, ushered the guests. Charlotte Johnson and Jacob Gehrke were vocalists during the ceremony, recessional and reception.
Lauren graduated from Johnston High School in 2010 and obtained her Registered Nursing degree with Honors from Mercy College of Health Sciences' School of Nursing in Des Moines in April. She will complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing this summer.
Taylor graduated from East Marshall High School in 2010 and the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors in Accounting in December, 2013. He passed the Certified Public Accountant exams and is employed by Bowman & Miller PC in Marshalltown.
The couple honeymooned in Kansas City and also plans a Caribbean cruise. Lauren and Taylor are at home in Le Grand.
