The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of Post 839 met on June 17 at the Post Home.
The Patriotic Art winner, Min Nang Lin and his teacher were treated to a meal by the Auxiliary. Lin placed third in the Department of Iowa for his art entry.
Linda Tasler, president, conducted the meeting according to the ritual. General Orders were read. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The May minutes were read and approved. Correspondence was from Operation Home Front, CIRSI and Youth and Shelter Services.

Lin won a monetary prize of $300 for placing third. He came in first place on the local level. This is a contest that is available to all students who are in grades ninth-12th. The auxiliary has pamphlets for anyone who would like information on participating.
Tasler sent 9,053 coupons to CIRSI and 25 Crossword Puzzles to the VA in Des Moines. Deloris Clayton delivered a Birthday Card to an IVH resident.
The Post thanked the ladies for the help given at the Lioness meetings. The Auxiliary will purchase the meat for the next meal to the Lioness.
The Prayer was said for the VFW National Home for Children.
The Money March was conducted. Roselind Knight contributed to the Birthday Bank.
Tasler thanked Virginia Johnson for substituting as conductress.
Clayton read an article entitiled "Two Horses" for the good of the Auxiliary. Johnson read a poem written by Edwin C Hofert which he wrote at the request of the nephew of "Uncle Rick," a veteran.
The meeting closed according to the ritual. The next meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. on July 15 at the Post to eat a Pot Luck meal and meet.
