Marquess hired at MIW. Inc.
Mid-Iowa Workshops, Inc. (MIW. Inc.) has announced the hiring of Bill Marquess to fill the role of employment coordinator for MIW's new Supported Employment program.
The program, with the support of IVRS, IDHS and Central Iowa Community Services, intends to create meaningful community employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities in Marshall County by developing strong working relationships with area employers as well as empowering clients with job readiness skills.
Marquess began his career with Optimae LifeServices in Des Moines as an Employment Specialist assisting individuals with disabilities in obtaining community-based employment and providing on-site job coaching. In his most recent position he served as the Employment Coordinator for Bridges of Iowa, a residential substance abuse treatment facility also located in Des Moines. In this position Marquess was responsible for preparing clients to re-enter the workforce after periods of incarceration and treatment as well as developing relationships with local employers to help meet their staffing needs.
Marquess holds a bachelor's degree in English from Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., a bachelor's degree in psychology from Grand View University in Des Moines, and is currently working on his master's in public administration through Kaplan University in Des Moines.
As the employment coordinator for MIW, Marquess will work with both clients and employers alike to develop long-term community placement opportunities for individuals with disabilities. He is excited to bring his passion and experience to MIW's Supported Employment program.
This program, the only of its kind in Marshall County, seeks to connect area employers to a larger pool of qualified job candidates backed by the support of an agency with more than 40 years of experience in employing individuals with disabilities.
