Patience Griffin will be making a grand return to Marshalltown - a community where she raised a family for nine years.
She also completed her first manuscript in Marshalltown. Griffin's visit will center around two loves - writing and making quilts.
Griffin is coming back Aug. 6, first at the Marshalltown Public Library for a book signing as the successful first time author of the romantic novel "To Scotland with Love."
“To Scotland with Love,” is the first in a new series written by former Marshalltown resident Patience Griffin.
Later she will be at Marshalltown's Trinity Lutheran Church, 1011 S. 3rd Ave., for a Central Iowa Quilt Sew-ciety Guild session at 6 p.m. The public is invited to this free of charge event.
"Scotland" was released June 3 by Signet Eclipse Original. It is the first of three in a new series.
Currently living in Texas, Griffin said she is excited about returning to meet old friends as well as fans.

A self-described nerd who holds a master's degree in nuclear engineering, Griffin, as of late has been spending her days writing stories about hearth and home, and dreaming about the fictional town of Gandiegow, Scotland.
In her story, the reader one is transported to the coastal town of Gandiegow, Scotland. Caitriona MacLeod returns to her hometown ready to heal and get a fresh start after she had given up her job as a reporter to become the perfect wife only to have her husband die in his mistress's bed. Caitriona knows that getting away and reconnecting with her grandmother in part, by quilting, is the perfect solution. Only Gandiegow has a secret. Graham Buchanan, a sexy famous movie star periodically makes retreats to Gandiegow too. Caitriona is drawn to him.
Griffin has won praise from publishers and fellow authors on her first effort.

Griffin's next book, "Meet Me in Scotland," will be issued by Signet in January 6, 2015.
