A new restaurant will open in early September.
Roger Aneweer, of Marshalltown, will be opening a pub-type restaurant called The Gathering Spot, located at 209 E. Main St. Suite 9.
"It's going to be a nice cozy little pub for people to enjoy," he said. "They can come and eat food after work and sample different craft beers. It'll be a place where people can come after work."

The Gathering Spot, 209 E. Main St. Suite 9, is a pub-type restaurant opening in early September. The Gathering Spot will serve pizza, pulled pork sandwiches and nachos, burgers and craft beer.
Menu items will include pulled-pork sandwiches, nachos, pizza, hamburgers and cheeseburgers.
He said there will be a beer of the week and month to showcase different craft beers from around Iowa.
The Gathering Spot will be open during dinnertime, Aneweer said.
"It's not going to be a 2 a.m. club," Aneweer said. "I'm not intending to be open that long at all. I will be open for basically supper time and possibly lunch in the future."
Aneweer asked city council members Monday for a liquor license.
"I'm not applying for a Sunday liquor license," Aneweer said at the city council meeting. "I want to have my weekends off."
Aneweer is also fixing up the space.
"I'm redecorating," Aneweer said. "It will definitely look different than it did."
The Gathering Spot should be open by Sept. 2, Aneweer said.
