Linda Croskey, of Marshalltown, holds her dog Tuffy, as Casper swims by during Marshalltown Parks and Recreation’s Sixth Annual Doggie Dip, Monday, at the Marshalltown Family Aquatic Center.
Kirstan Condit, of Marshalltown and owner of Tuffy, said last year during the Doggie Dip, Tuffy clung to the side of the pool because he was scared.
“I brought him the second night and he started chasing balls— he loved it ever since,” Condit said. “He looks forward to this. We’ll probably come back tomorrow night.”
The Doggie Dip will also be held Tuesday. Dogs 25 pounds and under will be allowed to swim from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dogs larger than 25 pounds will be allowed to swim from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. The cost is $5 both swim times, humans are free.
There is no chlorine added to the pool during the day of the Doggie Dip, therefore it’s safe for dogs, said a Parks and Recreation employee.
