Ask Marilyn: Is There a Doctor in Your House?

Marilyn: Can a student with above-average, relatively good grades—but not a 4.0—become a medical doctor? My daughter is a fairly good student and wants to go to medical school after she completes her bachelor's degree in biology. Is it possible for an above-average student to succeed if she has extremely good study skills and is tenacious? Or do you absolutely need lots and lots of brains?
Are your daughter's good study skills earning her a GPA of 3.6 or more? If so, and she does well on the MCAT, she would definitely be in the running.
